How to access internet using domain account while not being connected to domain?

I believe this is possible, but could anybody help me with this? I use a domain account at school on my laptop to access the school network, but I cannot access the internet when i bring my laptop home. I’m pretty sure it is possible to change this, but correct me if I’m wrong.

btw, please don’t go too techno jargon on me, simple steps would be nice.

Most likly your mchine is set up to use either a proxy or static DNS settings. In either case you will need to open up the Internet Options on your machine and set the LAN settings to auto detect so it can find it’s way to the Internet.
